Top-notch comedy, Celebrity Pub-Quiz and Live Music at The HOB this week...
Posted by: Mr. Tea 17 February, 2009 16:01

It's all happening down here at The HOB - we had another packed house on Saturday night and a storming show to (re-)boot - the senses. Thanks a bunch for coming along in such numbers for despite what the comics would have you believe it's yous that are making the Saturday nights the success they are. Of course the acts are doing their bit - but...I digress. The funny business -

Saturday Night Stand-Up

What! Are they good - four! + MC

You're in the oh-so capable hands of 'Likeable, fast-thinking Londoner' - The Evening Standard - compere for the evening Mr. Simon Clayton.
First up is Paul F Taylor - he's making a name for himself as one of the more exciting new acts on the circuit. His unique style combines surreal off-beat observations with a delightfully intense delivery - what does the F stand for - you decide.
Nick Hodder is relatively new to the circuit but we had to book him as we recieved rave reviews re his act from Windsor - one of our finest MC's - not Her Majesty's Thameside pile - so we've gone and given him a 10 spot.
A firm favourite at our New Material Night, and a headliner in his own right, is cheeky, charming, cheerful, chirpy, chappy Andrew Bird - 'Fast, fluid and animated...effortlessly reliable in generating laughs...undeniably good company' - Chortle. In short he's very funny and very chummy.
Our headliner this week and top of the class act is Miles Jupp whose 'Ultra-posh gentrified character is a truly excellent comic creation, backed up with some genuinely unexpected punchlines...the material is top draw' - Chortle.
'Miles Jupp's gloriously offensive posh boy persona makes for great entertainment' - The Independent.

9pm. 9/6. Bar till 2am.

Friday Live Music

Left hand loop - play Rhythm and Blues with a feelgood edge

Free entry.9.30 am. Bar till 2am

Thursday Celebrity Pub-Quiz

Popping the questions and freshish from storming it here on Saturday night is comedy circuit legend and PHD of disguise - Mr. Martin Soan. If you haven't seen his Invisible Man yet...

9pm. 2

Monday 23rd February - The All New Stand-Up Show presents...

New Material Night

7 headline acts from our pool of 15 do their very latest stuff hot-off-the-pad/back of hand/sleeve -

It's a top night and one for the comedy purist - there's little or no 'where you from?' type structure they simply get up there and go at it.

Our pool of headliners includes Daniel Kitson, Micky Flanagan, Paul Tonkinson, Paul Sinha, Rob Rouse, Jeff Innocent, Liam Mullone, Stephen Carlin, Andrew Bird, Steve Day - some of the finest acts around...

Fascinating and funny and only 3 quid.

Hope to see you soon
