Spring Awakening

Though it feels like spring has already sprung, the official start, musically at least, will be the Concordia 'Spring Awakening' concert on Saturday, March 16th. Don't forget to book your tickets now for a performance of heart-lifting choral works by one of south London's most admired amateur choirs.

These include the exquisite 16th century Lamentations by Robert White, composed for Holy Week; the wonderful Baroque Crucifixus by Antonio Lotti and two pieces by John Rutter, Britain's most notable contemporary composer of choral church music: Hymn To Creator Of Light and the famous Requiem in seven movements with its unforgettable Pie Jesu.

STOP PRESS. Concordia are now delighted to announce that, in the Requiem, we'll be accompanied by a specially convened instrumental ensemble, including the talented harpist Laura Crobu, who will also perform a solo work by the 18th century German composer Louis Spohr, written in celebration of spring.

So wake up and make sure of your seats now!

The performance is at 7.30pm on Saturday, 16th March at All Saints Church, Lovelace Rd, SE21 8JY. Tickets cost 14 at the door, or 13 in advance from www.concordiachamberchoir.co.uk. Concessions (students and those on means tested benefits) half price. Remember that feeling you get coming home from an amazing concert? Make a note in your diary!
