NEXT HEALTHY RIDE FROM SOUTHWARK CYCLISTS, 1/6/19
Posted by: Dulwichvisitor 29 May, 2019 09:36

This ride starts and finishes at the Dulwich Clock Cafe in Dulwich Park (SE21 7BQ), lasting two hours it starts at 10am and ends at noon.

The first section goes via quiet streets to the starting point of the Peckham rides in Peckham Square. On the way it comes past (or very close to) Peckham Rye Station so it will be a useful piece of route-finding for anyone from Dulwich or East Dulwich who would like to use that station instead of East Dulwich or Denmark Hill. Apologies to those for whom this information is a waste of good brain space -- it's included in hope that someone will find it useful.

The next section follows the Canal Path and Glengall Rd through to Quietway 1 at Oxley Close. There's a short stretch of Q1 which is always a joy and then across to Potters Field Park next to Tower Bridge via Bermondsey Spa Gardens and Shad Thames.

There will be a brief stop for photos at Tower Bridge and then back via Bermondsey St (Fashion and Textile Museum; lots of restaurants) and through to Quietway 1 briefly joining the outward route. Turn off Q1 at Dunton Rd and on to Burgess Park where we will ride across the park and join the Quietway 7 route. This runs most of the way back via Camberwell Grove, then there's a lovely off-road downhill known as Greendale. I'm afraid Camberwell Grove is an up but without ups you can't have lovely downs. No more ups or downs -- nice and flat, through Dulwich Village to the park.

The route is here: [www.google.com]. These rides and the occasional Bank Holidays rides are devised, organised and led by Bruce Lynn and friends on behalf of Southwark Cyclists. We are the borough branch of the London Cycling Campaign and everything we do is free and open to all.
