Not somewhere you would normally think of as being an interesting place, but as well as being peaceful, west norwood is also home to quite a few famous old bones!! Mrs Beeton, Baron charles de reuters (who founded reuters), Sir Henry tate ( of tate and lyle sugar fame, and of course the tate galleries), Sir Henry doulton, Sir Hiram Maxim (invented the machine gun), Sir Henry bessemer ( invented steel), Charles Spurgeon ( baptist church founder), william marsden (founded the marsden hospitals), The Cubitt family (construction) and numerous others.. it also has a greek section and contains over 66 grade 1 and 2 listed memorials.

and for those rugby and football fans Sir Charles alcock (he was apparently as well), the founder of the FA and also Rugby union is buried here.
