Mughal Miniature Art Classes

Traditional Mughal Miniature Painting is a classical form of Indian arts which evolved in the era of mughals to depict life as beautiful form of aesthetic art. It developed under mughal emperors with Persian influence but declined with Aurangzeb as he did not encourage it. Now it’s done by a very small number of artists located in Rajasthan (India), especially Jaipur. But, with reasons, it is also termed as an alternative source of history.

Shalini Gupta, 31, would be happy to share her knowledge. She is a proficient artist, qualified at Chand Shipla-shala institute, Jaipur, India. She has exhibited and sold her paintings worldwide. She has in her portfolio about 100 paintings, which have been highly acclaimed.

She wants to introduce a short course for 6 sessions, where you would be able to take with you a beautiful, intricate, piece of miniature art all done by yourself but with a small guidance. You need not know or have experience before. You will learn to sketch, paint, emboss, gold sticking, shading, designing as a part of this experience.

Duration: 6 weeks course.
Timing: 3-4 pm on Saturday (flexible)
Venue & Date : To be confirmed later
Cost: £120 including the required kit - colours, sheet, drawing board, gold leafs, basic stationary, special brushes
Capacity: 4-5 people on first come first served basis, preferable above the age of 18

Learn to Sew Child's Skirts (and grown ups A-line ones too!) September, All Fired Up

We still have a couple of spaces on upcoming sewing classes. You can either make a sweet girl's Clothkits skirt (age 1 - 8 - picture attached) or a grown-ups A-line skirt (that fits you like a glove - you will make a pattern to suit your exact size, and take it home so you can make it again and again).

The girl's skirt class is for absolute beginners and takes one evening.

The adult skirt class is for intermediates (you will have put in a zip before, for example), and takes two evenings - one to cut the pattern and one to construct the skirt.
